You need an updated pppd from
ftp.firstfloor.org:/pub/ak/ppp-2.2.0f-4.i386.rpm The patch is in

This route is wrong (because it tries to add a route to a down device).
That's a pppd bug that's uncovered by the new routing code.
My patch fixes this.
