SubjectRE: SMBFS & 2.1.62
I have ran into the following problem trying to use 2.1.62 and smbfs
with both Win95 and WFW 3.11:

If I copy a text file from my linux system to either of the above
platforms and the target filename does not already exist, the file is
copied but I receive and EIO error from the cp command. If I immediately
try to do the same thing again I get the EIO error but now the length of
the destination file is ZERO.

This means if I try to edit an existing file on the smbfs, when I try to
save the file is truncated to a zero length!

I have a 32mb 150mhz pentium with an SMC elite ultra ethernet card. My
kernel was compiled from linux 2.1.60 with patches 2.1.61 and 2.1.62
applied using the pentium gcc compiler.

This is cut from my log file

Nov 5 14:58:07 pc-sec kernel: smb_newconn: server not locked, count=1
Nov 5 14:58:07 pc-sec kernel: smb_offerconn: server not locked, count=1

Nov 5 15:18:03 pc-sec kernel: smb_errno: ERRDOS code 50, returning EIO
N

The shared drives are mount on directory entries with rwx for all.

I experienced this same problem with 2.1.57 & 2.1.58.

when I transfer files using smbclient I have no problems.

If there are additional diags I can enable or other tests I can run I
am more than willing to help.

Thanks for your attention,
Steve
