    I can duplicate that problem both on process.c and your test file:
    (root@jackalz):/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/kernel# gcc -D__KERNEL__ -o process.o process.c
    process.c: In function `flush_thread':
    process.c:469: fixed or forbidden register was spilled.
    This may be due to a compiler bug or to impossible asm
    statements or clauses.
    Is that what you meant by crash?
