For you info
I have been in contact with a compny called Colorgraphic Corp (http://www.colorgfx.com) that makes a dual headed video card that supports 1600X1200 at 16 bits. And
YOU CAN DRAG WINDOWS FROM ONE SCREEN TO ANOTHER!!!
Two cards can be installed providing a contiguous surface in either 2X2 or 4X1 configuratioons.
The board is currently supported under NT W95 and .... The company is developiong a driver for Xfree86. I have asked to become a beta site when the software is available.
The ability to drag windows between screens has been my only hesitation for using multiple windows (remember the MAC?). Also, the greyscale dynamic range of monochrome monitors far exceeds that of color monitors (e.g. medical imaging). I hope to have two color heads for development and maybe to monochrome heads to support comparison of 12024X1024 imagery.
