Hmm, dosn't multicast put some cards in promisc mode ? Small snipit from linux/drivers/net/README.multicast:
PROMISC = This multicasts mode is in fact promiscuous mode. Avoid using cards who go PROMISC on any multicast in a multicast kernel.
