So I looked for this: The situation described below happend with GCC 2.7.2p and was reproduceable.
No I upgraded to GCC 2.7.2.1 and nothing works anymore... I can compille the 2.0.26 kernel fine again and it is booting correctly.
But the 2.0.28 one refuses to mount root as described below, no matter what I set for
#define MAX_CHRDEV 64 #define MAX_BLKDEV 64
in linux/include/linux/major.h
It does not work with 64 or 128...
I have no more ideas where I can look for this bug...
Please Help!
PS: The versions of libc and libg++ are 5.4.17 and 2.7.2.1 now.
