This might be related: ever since upgrading to 2.0.27, I get occasional busy errors when running something like a Modfile player (xgmod 3.2). My kernel syslog looks like this:
Dec 29 12:26:38 escape kernel: GUS: Midi busy
This may have actually happened starting with 2.0.25... but I cannot remember now which version I first saw it with. The most obvious symptom is long delays when starting to play a mod file or midi file. Sometimes the program locks up and must be kill 9'd to make it die.
I've had some trouble with playing wav files, and since kernel 2.0.18, I have not been able to record any sound with my GUS at all. Mixer quit working too, or at least doesn't not work as it should.
I have put off exploring it because I assumed it was just some problem I had overlooked. But seeing other people with the problem prompted me to report it just in case something more is afoot.
My GUS is the original card... probably three years old now.
