I stumbled across something which _appears_ to have fixed the problem. The
server wasn't using linear addressing, because I hadn't turned it on. Once
I turned on linear addressing, I was able to specify a CLGD 5430 and
haven't had any crashes since. Strange. Some bug in the BIOS-access code?
