Something that might be even better is an international money order. I'm sure there's also a fee for changing US dollars in cash to Finnish money (my ignorance shows, I have no idea what the monetary unit of Finland is -- herrings?). While there's a fee for purchasing an international money order, it's at least borne by the purchaser rather than the receiver, and the receiver gets the local equivalent of the order as determined by the current exchange rate.
