Hallo,
I looked a little more about the job control behaviour of netscape 3.0.
I start it from an rxvt. It displays the version screen. Typing suspend ("^Z") immediate returns to the prompt. I can repeat. No I open some remote www page. Typing "^Z" and bringing it bach in the forground (fg) repeatedly, after some cycles it takes long to get back to the command prompt after the "^Z", over 20 seconds possibly. Causing a repaint event immeateate returns the hanging suspends. I use tcsh, fvwm, but I think that shouldn't matter as Linux uses preemtive multitasking. With the hanging suspend, I get following /proc/<pid>/status: Name: netscape State: S (sleeping) Pid: 500 PPid: 138 Uid: 503 503 503 503 Gid: 100 100 100 100 VmSize: 7600 kB VmLck: 0 kB VmRSS: 4760 kB VmData: 1564 kB VmStk: 24 kB VmExe: 3668 kB VmLib: 1452 kB SigPnd: 00082000 SigBlk: 65686469 SigIgn: 80001080 SigCgt: 00016403 After a repaint event: Name: netscape State: T (stopped) Pid: 500 PPid: 138 Uid: 503 503 503 503 Gid: 100 100 100 100 VmSize: 7600 kB VmLck: 0 kB VmRSS: 4760 kB VmData: 1564 kB VmStk: 24 kB VmExe: 3668 kB VmLib: 1452 kB SigPnd: 00002000 SigBlk: 00000000 SigIgn: 80001080 SigCgt: 00016403
