Hmm...I built a new 2.0.21 with your latest patch, and it locked up just the same...so I decided to take another look at CMOS settings. I turned off several of the "performance" related items, booted with Drew's driver to fsck the disk, then booted 2.0.21-bsd again, and just completed a make zImage without locking up. That's the first time it's made it through a kernel compile with the BSD driver in SMP mode.
Things I turned off are: DRAM Speculative Leadoff Turn-Around Insertion Peer Concurrency Chipset Special Features
I suppose the next things to do are test older kernels to see if they run as well with these settings disabled, and then go back to 2.0.21 and start enabling settings one at a time to see which is the "bad one". I'll go try compiling a kernel with 2.0.20-bsd now.
