?! No! He's comparing apples and oranges because the MAJOR number of the
kernel has been bumped.

If a kernel is going to crap out, it doesn't care whether it has been
compiled by the machine's admin, or compiled (say) by someone at RedHat
for mass "precompiled" distribution.

Assuming no faulty compilers or clashing drivers are involved, or course :-)
