Is is possible to configure the plip.o module on the insmod command line to only "take over" specified parallel ports in a manner similar to lp.o configuration. For example:
insmod lp.o io=0x378 irq=7
This will load the lp module so that it only takes over lpt1. One can then load the plip module and it will take over the rest. This is fine if you always load lp first in this manner. I would like to be able to do something like:
insmod plip.o io=0x278 irq=5
so that the modules could be loaded in any order without taking more resources than they need (for example by kerneld...!). Can this currently be done? If so, how? If not, how difficult would it be to modify the plip initialization code?
