SubjectWhat is crt1.o?
Having just installed the kernel-2.0 source, I'm having the following problem whilst 'make dep'-ing.

--Stderr starts--
ld: cannot open crt1.o: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [conmakehash] Error 1
make[1]: *** [fastdep] Error 2
make: *** [dep-files] Error 2
--Stderr ends--

I cannot find _any_ reference to 'crt1' anywhere. Does anyone know :-

1) Where I can obtain 'crt1.o'.
2) What package I must (re-)install for this to work.

Briefly, I am running Redhat 3.0.3, with the following :-

gcc version 2.7.2
ld version 2.6 (with BFD 2.6.0.2)
634880 May 12 18:47 /lib/libc.so.4.6.27
675187 Feb 26 01:14 /lib/libc.so.5.2.18

Please mail me if more info is required. I am not on this list. Any help much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
