Not neccesarily 1.2.13 is nice and stable. An error like that at boot suggests something more like a memory error on the board. There is also a post 1.2.13 project fixing the odd bugs in 1.2.13 for a maximal stability kernel based on old technology. Quite handy for many ISP's
