I just finished installing RedHat on this system, but from a nfs-mounted cd-rom drive. no problems booting.
I have not tried yet to connect the ide-cdrom to the system again, but when it was before (*), booting was fine, too. the scsi-drive was at C: and the ide-cdrom at D: , no problems. but at the time I tried to access the ide-cdrom from linux => hda timeout (or hdc when on ide1)
(*) this means: booting m$/dos which was preinstalled by the manufacturer.
