SubjectOhhh not this now!??!??

Well, my system crashed, I decided I might as well put 2.0.10 on it now.
I compiled it [options attached], installed it, rebooted - nothing unusual.
So the new kernel comes up on my system. Note that my IDE controller
is a CMD640B =(, and that hda=AC31000F 1Gig drive, hdb=AC2420F 420M drive,
and hdc = Toshiba cdrom. All worked fine until this bootup, where the
kernel simply froze after it had displayed the stuff below. Not even
ctrl-alt-del worked [are we in a loop with interrupts disabled somewhere??].
By they way, I tried this after a cold and warm boot - same result. I guess
I point my finger at the "improved" CMD640 code.

[...usual stuff...]

ide: buggy CMD640B interface on pci (0x80001000); serialized, secondary port untouched
hda: WDC AC31000F, 1033MB w/64kB Cache, LBA, CHS=525/64/63
Drive Timing: PIO Mode 3 (180ns) w/IORDY (overriding vendor mode), Read-ahead: enabled
hdb: WDC AC2420F, 405MB w/64kB Cache, CHS=989/15/56

[and here it stops instead of displaying the cdrom, hdb's timing, etc..]

P.S. I am all for creating a modified number scheme, for example
the 2.0.10b[123...] seemed a very good idea. I mean, obviously
there was a major (?) change in the CMD640 code which apparently
introduced bad side effects and that would be nice to be tested
out first, right? Afterall this kernel is supposed to be stable.
[Does that include booting? *laughs*]
P.P.S. No hardware failure. Runs fine under 2.0.0 as I type.
