Hi, I'm having a problem using PPP on my system. I realise that this may not be the correct place to ask for this help, but syslog *is* logging this mainly as 'kernel'. If people have a problem with this posting then please tell me. I connect fine (login with username/password) and PPP starts up on the remote system, however my pppd logs the following before hanging up on me:
Jul 30 22:21:11 tonka pppd[771]: Serial connection established. Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set flags to 10000 Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set flags to 10000 Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set xasyncmap Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set xmit asyncmap ffffffff Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set flags to 10000 Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set mru to 5dc Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set rcv asyncmap 0 Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp_tty_ioctl: set flags to 10010 Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka pppd[771]: Using interface ppp0 Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka pppd[771]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS1 Jul 30 22:21:12 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 20 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:13 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 12 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:13 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 20 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:13 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 12 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:13 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 20 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:13 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 12 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:13 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 20 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:14 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 12 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:14 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 20 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:14 tonka kernel: ppp: successfully queued 12 bytes, flags = f010010 Jul 30 22:21:14 tonka pppd[771]: Serial line is looped back. My connect script looks like this:
/usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyS1 38400 connect 'chat -v -f $HOME/.chat/tellurian' crtscts defaultroute debug kdebug 1 modem noipdefault
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why my connection is always dying?
I can use it under Win95/Win31/WinNT with no problems, it's only under Linux that I've had troubles.
thanks, dave
