SubjectAM53C974 SCSI buglet(?)

Well, here is a rather peculiar problem. After about 1 day and 7 hours
of uptime [mostly loadavg=0.00], I decided to look at some pictures
on my easy-drive [external SCSI, connected to a Tekram DC390 == AM53C974],
and wanted to mount it. Well, no disk in the drive [oops] so I put one
in after 2 unsuccessful mounts (whyever the message is repeated so many
times in the syslog], and the system locked rock solid. No telnetting
from the outside, nothing at all. Here is the wonderful error message
which gets quite messy ["touble starts.." folling a register dump].
This is from /var/adm/syslog. The first part of it is normal, I would
say, as it is right - there is no disk in the drive. Anyhow, once I put
one in and mounted it....see for yourself at the bottom of the log:
