I'm running linux-2.0.8, recent libc/binutils and so forth, and what happens is when I compile wu-ftpd it just exits immediately upon connecting to port 21:
Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. 220 micro.internexus.net FTP server (Version wu-2.4(5) Fri Jul 26 00:54:24 EDT 1996) ready. 221 Server shutting down. Goodbye. Connection closed by foreign host.
I had to make one change to the source (src/glob.c, line 240) I wasn't able to fix it so I just commented that one line out (doesn't relate to this problem anyway)
Any clue why its closing immediately? On #linux someone mentioned this is a known problem, or at least one other soul out there has experienced it. If someone can let me know where to find a safe shadowed in.ftpd binary in the meantime I would appreciate it. All the official linux distributions appear to come with unshadowed installations.
Thanks.
