Well, it is still a problem, we can't use all of the power in the new
cool video cards, some of them are just supported in their
compatibility modes and some are not supported at all currently. This
does not look like it will change in the near future.

I still don't have any docs on the bpp device, but I got my hands on
the source for a bpp driver for the 386 version of Linux. I just hope
they are the same thing.
