My solution to get the necessary information as compact and neat as possible is this:

The EATA-[DMA,PIO] drivers spit out exactly one line per controller found that shows the most important configuration information.
In this case (nomis.i-connect.net) two RAID controllers with together 4 SCSI channels serving 3 RAID arrays.
