I suppose I'm a bit late on this one but.. Wouldn't it be best to implement undelete in user space using a new rm? One could write it so that it was used just like the original (same options etc..) but instead of actually deleting the file, it copies it to ~/undelete or something.. You could make it delete the oldest file(s) in the ~/undelete dir after it reached a predetermined size. Simple, clean. could make the new file called rm.undelete or something, and make it an alias to rm for those users who wanted it. Anyway.. I'm sure a little thought could make this a useful thing..
