you can make "Oops" fall back to textmode (well if this fails then we are in deep trouble :)
btw, using 2 videocards and 2 monitors can solve this problem. An el cheapo Hercules card+monitor as textconsole, or 2 smarter PCI ones. (a natural thing with GGI i guess)
