I just installed the LILO 0.19 rpm on my machine. When I run it I get the following messages in my messages file:
Jun 28 07:37:25 kb5yvf kernel: ide: probable bad entry for /dev/hdc Jun 28 07:37:25 kb5yvf kernel: ide: to fix it, run: /usr/src/linux/drivers/block/MAKEDEV.ide Jun 28 07:37:26 kb5yvf kernel: ide: probable bad entry for /dev/hdc Jun 28 07:37:26 kb5yvf kernel: ide: to fix it, run: /usr/src/linux/drivers/block/MAKEDEV.ide Jun 28 07:37:26 kb5yvf kernel: ide: probable bad entry for /dev/hdc Jun 28 07:37:26 kb5yvf kernel: ide: to fix it, run: /usr/src/linux/drivers/block/MAKEDEV.ide Jun 28 07:37:27 kb5yvf kernel: ide: probable bad entry for /dev/hdc Jun 28 07:37:27 kb5yvf kernel: ide: to fix it, run: /usr/src/linux/drivers/block/MAKEDEV.ide Jun 28 07:37:27 kb5yvf kernel: ide: probable bad entry for /dev/hdc Jun 28 07:37:27 kb5yvf kernel: ide: to fix it, run: /usr/src/linux/drivers/block/MAKEDEV.ide Jun 28 07:37:28 kb5yvf kernel: ide: probable bad entry for /dev/hdc Jun 28 07:37:28 kb5yvf kernel: ide: to fix it, run: /usr/src/linux/drivers/block/MAKEDEV.ide
I ran MAKEDEV.ide (from linux/scripts) and got the same thing. I only have 2 ide devices on my machine so this isn't a problem for me right now, but I guess it could be.
