Yep, there was a bug in the libc (in the dirent function), which make used (could be worked around), but anyway, this bug was fixed in libc5.2.12-18 somewhere. Basically, the unintended behavior if the dirent function of the libc, which make exploited was changed, braking make (arguably make was already broken, but so was the libc so ...).
