I've recently noticed that the use column in /proc/net/route doesn't seem to update as often as it did in 1.2.x. i.e.
Kernel routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window Use Iface localnet * 255.255.255.0 U 1500 0 38 eth0 loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 3584 0 2 lo default fdt-gw.fdt.net * UG 1500 0 1 eth0
This is from a box running 2.0.0. I've been telnetted in for 16 hours testing and compiling things. It's sent alot more than 38 packets over the localnet route.
Kernel routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window Use Iface localnet * 255.255.255.0 U 1500 0 214 eth0 loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 1500 0 24 lo default fdt-gw.fdt.net * UG 1500 0 7881 eth0
This is from an IRC server running 1.3.72, up for 11 days. It's averaging about 60MB of traffic in each direction per day.
With 1.2.13, I see numbers like this: localnet * 255.255.255.0 U 1436 0 48925379 eth0 loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 1936 0 2616277 lo default fdt-gw.fdt.net * UG 1436 0 11585054 eth0
Have the units in "Use" changed or something?
