I'm having some annoying problems with sendmail 8.6.12 running under the recent Linux kernels. Wondering if these problems I'm having are related to the pipe handling changes which were made recently.
From messages log:
May 7 23:52:26 gomer sendmail[17425]: timeout waiting for input from wolverine.hq.cic.net during server cmd read
From syslog log:
Apr 24 22:55:38 gomer sendmail[14903]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR: putoutmsg (gomer.mlink.net): error on output channel sending "503 Need MAIL command": Broken pipe Apr 24 22:55:38 gomer sendmail[14903]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR: putoutmsg (gomer.mlink.net): error on output channel sending "500 Command unrecognized": Broken pipe
From ps output:
17600 ? S 0:00 sendmail: server wolverine.hq.cic.net cmd read 17603 ? S 0:00 sendmail: server wolverine.hq.cic.net cmd read 17604 ? S 0:00 sendmail: server wolverine.hq.cic.net cmd read 17607 ? S 0:00 sendmail: server wolverine.hq.cic.net cmd read 17608 ? S 0:00 sendmail: server wolverine.hq.cic.net cmd read
Sometimes, I've seen more than 10 of these kicking around at any given time. When I saw the broken pipe messages I thought of the recent pipe discussions.
Any clues?
Greg.
