I tried to upgrade our news server this afternoon from 1.2.13+ to 1.3.57. After upgrading to gcc 2.7.2, binutils 2.6.0.12, ad infinitum, I rebooted with 1.3.57 and immediately started getting
May 2 17:19:58 hunter kernel: kill_fasync: bad magic number in fasync_struct! May 2 17:21:58 hunter kernel: kill_fasync: bad magic number in fasync_struct! May 2 17:22:28 hunter kernel: kill_fasync: bad magic number in fasync_struct! May 2 17:22:58 hunter kernel: kill_fasync: bad magic number in fasync_struct! May 2 17:23:28 hunter kernel: kill_fasync: bad magic number in fasync_struct! May 2 18:30:59 hunter kernel: kill_fasync: bad magic number in fasync_struct!
This is trimmed as it didn't seem to be correlated with anything else. Another problem is that logins seem to take a _long_ time (4-5 minutes). Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be a hardware problem since 1.2.13 has only locked up once in the last 2-3 months.
Does anyone have suggestions on what other information might be helpful in diagnosing this? I'm more than willing to do my best to help troubleshoot this and even provide an account on the machine if that will help.
TIA
