ok, how about this: if the machine is configured with support for network devices built into the kernel, then /dev/random is automatically supported
if the machine is configured with nbet device support as a module, then /dev/random is configured as a module. kerneld should autload the random module with the net device
if the machine is configured without support for net devices, /dev/random would be a y/n/m option with default as ?
