Why can't modules have a call which resets there timeout back to 5 minutes everytime they are used. e.g. every access other than an ope/close calls a "module_touched()" inline function which resets the unload timeout value. This doesn't want to happen in critical sections of code, but surely those who have modules they need to keep loaded during brief apparently unused periods can find some suitable reset access points.
I'd do this, but sound is practically the only module I use often. (This is because I need to run a DOS init program in dosemu to set my wavrider 32 souncard into Microsoft Sound System mode before the sound probe will detect the card. - A very good use for modules)
Thanks.
