Hello again, thanks for the help with the flock errors before, I got most of em cleared away by recompiling the complaining programs...
However, after all this work, my teachers have informed me (thanks to someone on irc who msged me with a nasty message) that we cannot open internet access to the public until a secure censoring system is in place... They are going to try out Surfwatch, but this is a magnet school for technology (supposedly), and many students are capable of disabling it with minimal effort. Also, so far the school has made many promises to buy things (such as surf watch) for the past year but nothing has shown up (thank goodness linux is free!)... What I have been thinking (and which someone may have already done, but after alot of searching haven't found anything about it), is to build in a filtering system into the base of the tcp/ip handling of the kernel... I know this would slow it down alot, but it would be worth it to have slow internet access than none, or the threats of lawsuits from maniac parents... So if someone knows how to make an addon to linux that will filter out a list of "no-no" words from tcp/ip packets, I would appreciatte it alot... of course this will also be accompanied by site bans from places like playboy and hustler... so it will be a semi-secure system, hopefully eliminating most of the worry from my teachers... (Unfortunately, although I disagree with censorship, this is required before my school can get on the internet) Thanks again, Vermont Rutherfoord omnilord@igc.net http://www.igc.net/~omnilord/
PS Would it be possible to make a linux-digest mailing list like Ive seen in other places? I left two days and my mailbox overflowed with 300+ messages!... (Altho it does balance out to be worth the amount of knowledge I gain by reading it) hasta el huevo!
