The current Linux kernel has problems identifying a Mitsume quad speed ATAPI CD-ROM on hdc (with two harddisks on hda and hdb). The message is "status = 0.80 ?" during drive detection. Sometimes it works, but sometimes the kernel freezes during init. A true hardware reset hels against freezing. As far as the freezing is concerned, I'm not sure whether this is a conflicting hardware detection from an other driver. I was using a distribution's "power kernel".
