Subjectautoconfiguring kernel
What about having a configure script for the linux kernel, then instead of
the PnP-style "telling you what you have," it could submit it to the user
for approval (read "curses")--All on one page. Necessary changes would
then be made. Not true plug-and-play, but a little autodetection can be
helpful.
