I've had this message also for some time, with a number of different kernels, libc's and binutils. My output is:
Apr 16 09:25:07 pcnhead kernel: Error in symbol table input. Apr 16 09:25:07 pcnhead kernel: Cannot find map file.
My System.map file is a link to the current one. Maybe it doesn't like links...?? I've changed it to a copy now rather than a link, but I'll need to wait until a reboot before I know.
Are you guys with the same message using links too?
