Ok I wasnt aware you can chain the printer and HPPA driver (that by the way will take quite some doing to avoid deadlocks - consider the case of the following..
write(printer_fd, some_data, len)
Where some_data is data swapped out on the HPPA controlled drive. Make sure your semaphores are very fine grained ;)
