Hi, I've been having a problem with my SCSI-2 tape backup for some time now... The tape is an Exabytes 2501 (750 Megs, 1/4"), controller is an Adaptec AHA-1542C, and hard disk is a Fujitsu 1 gig SCSI-2 one.
When backuping, I use 'tar'. If the backup fits on one tape, I have no problem to backup/restore. But if the backup takes more than one tape (for example, the 1-gig disk...), tar just does with a segfault when doing a restore/list.
switches used to backup: tar -cvMf /dev/st0 I've tried using '-L 750000' but it makes no difference.
switches used to list the backup: tar -tMf /dev/st0
I'm using the kernel 1.3.71, and I've been having this problem since at least 1.3.25 (I didn't really try any 1.3 kernel before that). I think it used to work with 1.2.11, but I'm unable to compile those kernels since I went ELF, so I can't really say.

Any other info needed ? I really need to get this tape backup running, so I'm willing to test about anything...
