Amazingly enough Zachary R Amsden said: > while I was thinking about writing a kernel patch to support scrollback on > monochrome cards, and if I do this it would be easy enough to support > scrollback buffering for all VC's with a CONFIG_SCROLLBACK option. Personally, I think the user space program 'screen' does a sufficient job of providing this type of service. The only time I think this might be useful is if soemthing crashed, and you needed scroll back to get some messages. And if that's the case, who's the say that kernel backing store, and necessary code, won't be any more corrupted then everything else?
Then again, all this was discussed on the list about... oh... 3-4 months ago? Heh.
