linux-2.1.18 breaks CONFIG_MODVERSIONS: updating /usr/src/linux-2.1.18/include/linux/modversions.h gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux-2.1.18-BSD/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strength-reduce -pipe -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -DMODVERSIONS -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -c ksyms.c In file included from /usr/src/linux-2.1.18/include/linux/module.h:15, from ksyms.c:12: /usr/src/linux-2.1.18/include/linux/modversions.h:7: linux/modules/*.ver: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [ksyms.o] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory /usr/src/linux-2.1.18/kernel' make[1]: *** [first_rule] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory /usr/src/linux-2.1.18/kernel' make: *** [linuxsubdirs] Error 2 It seems that the *.ver files aren´t created any more, maybe caused by the new symbol-table handling for modules. With a disabled CONFIG_MODVERSIONS there is no problem to compile 2.1.18. PS: I´am using gcc-2.7.2.1 and modules-2.1.13. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Markus <mk@emil.inka.de> (Markus Kossmann)
