I missed the original post. The token-ring driver has support for multiple (well, two) adapters with the 2.1.17 kernel. If you need multiple adapter support in 2.0.27 then you'll need to get the patch from:
ftp://ftp.cts.com/users/crash/p/pnorton/ibmtr.multiple.adapter.patch.2.0.25.gz
