SubjectLinux and BSDI benchmarks

Howdy all,

I recently got a chance to run some benchmarks comparing Linux and BSDI on
exactly the same hardware. The motherboard is an ASUS xp6n5, with 256mb
ram.

Both BSDI and Linux (RedHat 4.0) were run 'out of the box' with no
tweaking or changes from the default installation.

The benchmark used was http://www.silkroad.com/public/bench.tar.gz

The results were quite shocking:

Pentium Pro 200, BSDI 2.1 (first line)
Pentium Pro 200, Linux 2.0.18 (second line)
Dhrystone 2 without register variables 22366.3 347986.9 15.6

Linux blows away BSDI in all tested cases _except_:

System Call Overhead Test (BSDI was 34.7% faster)
