Subject3c507 driver, very slow
Dear Donald,

I recently got a 3c507 card which i use in an old 486 to connect to my
pentium. Both machines run linux 2.0.23 The pentium has pcnet32 PCI
built-in ethernet card which has worked fine in several machines sofar.

The problem is the 3c507, when i use it under Windows 3.11 it performance
adequately (normal throughput) however when i use it under linux
'ifconfig' reports transmit errors, and the throughput is very low. (both
system running idle).
Example : if i try to ftp a 300k file the progress bar would jump from 0
to 17 % in the first second or two but the remaining 83 % percent could
take up to a minute to transfer.

this is my config for the kernel (486)

eth0: 3c507 at 0x300, 00 60 8c 5b c2 f8, IRQ 3, external xcvr, memory
0xd0000-0xdffff.
3c507.c:v1.10 9/23/94 Donald Becker (becker@cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov)

I'm probably overlooking something but i don't know what. Could you point
me in the right direction??

Many thanks in advance,

Sven Eric

P.S. I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware problem because i tried 2 3c507
cards...
