That was the reason why I had disabled address error software fixing initially by default like other MIPS systems do. It's just that there is too much bad software out there - most notably partition table and CDROM stuff ...
But nowadays I'm more satisfied with the situation. The counter in /proc/cpuinfo rarely get's bigger than 0.
Btw, wouldn't it be a nice thing for us RISC people if on Intel the kernel would enable the 486+ alignment exceptions and throw warnings ;-)
