Hi hjl, linux developers,
I just recently downloaded linux2.0.25 and tried to compile it on a Intel 486, with binutilsv2.7 and gcc2.7.2. I ran into the following problem even though the config was set for a processor 486.
a). In directory /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/kernel the file time.c claimed on line 768/770 that there was no such 386 instruction:
rdmsr, wrmsr.
I didn't have any problems compiling linux2.0.24 except for my earlier email about the missing options -k, -q, -o for the binutilv2.7 utility objdump.
I'll be waiting for the next revision.
