Yes, it's me again, the infamous perpetual whiner of ppp performance letdowns.
I was one of the first to ring praises to the irqtune package which improved ppp performance in the 2.0.14-2.0.18 kernels at least. Now, with the 2.0.23 kernel, my ppp performance is outstanding, without the irqtune facility loaded.
In fact, loading the irqtune seems to hurt the performance now. I noticed some changes in the tcp/ip stuff in regard to interrupts, maybe that in some way countered the function of irqtune by blocking when the serial interrupts were taking place. I haven't really looked at the code, I just browse the patches, but that's my theory on that instance.
Whatever has taken place, I applaud you. If things remain as they are I will not bitch ever again about ppp performance! :-)
