Dear Trevor,
After replying to your first reply, I released that it was possible that I have been running out of memory at the moment of compiling the kernel. I have therefore recompiled the original link.c, and this time with success.
I am sorry if I caused any inconvenience. I think that running out memory has caused the link.o fail (maybe be empty, didn't check that :/ .. just 'nm -C link.o').
