Hello,
I just compiled my first 2.1.x series of kernels today. I skipped the earlier either because I was forced to (aic7xxx broken) or because too many things reportedly wouldn't compile.
So, here are the few things I noticed with 2.1.5:
I get two lines in my syslog which I've never seen before upon booting up (just before the login: prompt):
Oct 19 03:57:17 gomer kernel: Adding Swap: 50396k swap-space Oct 19 03:57:28 gomer kernel: Exception at c0184a5a (c0184a64) Oct 19 03:57:28 gomer kernel: Exception at c0184a5a (c0184a64)
Not very informative so I have no clue where to start looking. It doesn't seem to affect anything else as the machine seems stable and has been up for about 8 hours.
Modules... Compiling with mouse support (not serial mice) fails in misc.c with PS/2 support selected as a module:
misc.c:191: `proc_misc_read' undeclared here (not in a function) misc.c:191: initializer element for `proc_misc.get_info' is not constant misc.c:187: warning: `proc_misc' defined but not used make[2]: *** [misc.o] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/src/kernel/linux-2.1.5/drivers/char'
Thats all so far.
