Well here is a possible explanation: dynamic IP addresses.

I used to get similar messages all the time when I had a dynamic IP.
It seems people in chat rooms figure the addresses are permanent,
and send mail to it - normally these get dumped in the postmaster's
box. I stopped getting such mail when I found an ISP with free static
IP addresses.
