Omar probably won't wake up in quite a while, so I've tested the patch.
Alas, doesn't help. Similar spew (for the few modules I don't have =y),
while reverting 784d5699eddc fixes it for me too.

Debian sid toolchain: gcc 6.2.0-6, binutils 2.27-8, config at
