Thank you very much. I believe it also has some small contribution to keeping idle CPUs idle in a multi-core system. I consider this my personal carbon offset effort :-)
My current plan is to take a look at each invocation of on_each_cpu in core kernel code and see if it makes sense to give it a similar treatment.
